I just reviewed Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s pitching mechanics. He has some drift, but he controls it well. There’s a tiny amount of drag, but it’s so small that it doesn’t affect his timing. His layback is not excessive, he has a very clean arm path, no shrug, no inverted W, and his arm is generally on time. The question is whether you should teach his mechanics to a 16-year-old.
