Here’s a fun fact – Spanish moss is not Spanish and it’s not a moss! Seriously! You’ve probably seen this tiny little plant hanging from Vizcaya’s 100-year-old oaks because it’s an epiphyte (or air plant), which means it doesn’t need soil to thrive. It can grow on other plants with its roots exposed to the air. It’s also not harmful to its host, as seen from our thriving trees. Here’s where the fun fact gets fun! Spanish moss has routinely been used as stuffing material in everything from mattre
