50 years ago today, the 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment completed its first ever operational tour of duty, in Vietnam, and departed Vung Tau for home in Brisbane, Australia. 6RAR was raised at Alamein Barracks at Enoggera in Brisbane, Queensland on 6 June 1965 and arrived in Vietnam for its first tour of duty on 6 June 1966.
