Jul 17, 2016 · Once the trigger is in hand, removing the spring that holds the steel ratchet rack in tension allows the gun to be cocked 'normally' (photos in post #5). The spring is very stiff so wear eye protection!! The whole sound/feel of cocking the gun is now a ton better w/o all the monkey motion. Quiet and buttery-smooth just the way it should be.

Jan 3, 2025 · Forgot. Notice this gun has no external hammer, nothing to cock. A big turn off for me. My models 94, and 1894, and 92 and 1895 Marlin Guide Gun would not be the same, without a hammer to control the action. And I was wrong about barrel length, the 300 is 16.5, the 223 comes with an 18 inch.
