Seven people pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a long list of charges in the killing of Sam Nordquist, a Black transgender man who was allegedly held captive and tortured in an upstate New York hotel room for more than a month before succumbing to his torment.

All seven defendants in the Sam Nordquist murder case pleaded not guilty to all charges during their arraignment Tuesday in Ontario County Court.

All seven defendants — Arzuaga, Emily Jean Motyka, Jennifer A. Quijano, Kyle R. Sage and Patrick A. Goodwin, Kimberly L. Sochia and Thomas G.
