The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says it will hire for “mission-critical field positions” amid expert warnings that the weather service is too short-staffed to warn people of the dangers of the upcoming extreme weather season.
OKLAHOMA (KXII) - NOAA weather radios in southern Oklahoma will experience an outage Tuesday through Thursday. The US National Weather Service’s Norman Office said the outage was for a required software update. The Norman office covers much of Texoma, and it will impact transmitters in Atoka and Ardmore.
NOAA’s outlook for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, which goes from June 1 to November 30, predicts a 60% chance of an above-normal season.
