Democrats warn the package would be detrimental to working-class and lower-income families.

Charter Communications said on Friday it would buy privately held rival Cox Communications for $21.9 billion, uniting two of the largest U.S. cable and broadband operators.

Those changes are expected to cause 7.6 million Americans to lose their health insurance over the next 10 years, according to initial estimates by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

The U.S. social safety net would be jolted if the budget bill backed by President Donald Trump and passed Thursday by the House of Representatives becomes law.It would impose work requirements for low-income adults to receive Medicaid health insurance and increase them for food assistance as well as cut funding for services like birth control to the nation’s biggest abortion provider.

The proposed bill would cut an estimated $625 billion from the program, which provides health care to more than 71 million low-income Americans.

Trump dismissed their complaints in his Truth Social post, contending “Democrats have lost control of themselves, and are aimlessly wandering around, showing no confidence, grit, or determination.”
