The family of a Muslim female student at Ardrey Kell High School is pushing for hate crime charges to be filed against a male student, alleging the student violently beat her and used racial slurs.

CHARLOTTE — For the first time, the FBI and US Attorney’s Office publicly commented on the fight that happened at Ardrey Kell High School last month. The fight involved a 15-year-old girl and boy.

No hate crime charges will be brought against the 15-year-old who assaulted his Muslim classmate in Ardrey Kell High School in March, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Wednesday.

On the same day, police said no hate crime charges would be filed after the fight. Last month, their 15-year-old son got into a fight with a 15-year-old girl at Ardrey Kell High School.
