A high-profile violent incident took place at Ardrey Kell March 7 in which a female Muslim student was allegedly assaulted by a male student. The girl’s family alleged the incident was a hate crime.

The 15-year-old student at Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, who wasn't named, was attacked in her math class on March 7 by a black boy the same age.

It reads: 'Good morning Ardrey Kell High School families this is Principal [Jamie] Brooks reaching out to inform you about a fight that occurred in your child’s classroom today between two students.

On the same day, police said no hate crime charges would be filed after the fight. Last month, their 15-year-old son got into a fight with a 15-year-old girl at Ardrey Kell High School.
