On Monday, Sportico's Kurt Badenhausen and Eben Novy-Williams reported that the Connecticut Sun could relocate soon. According to their report, the Mohegan Sun (the team's ownership group) has hired an investment bank to search for a new buyer. The Mohegan Sun has owned the franchise since 2003, when it was known as the Orlando Miracle.
The WNBA is continuing to boom in popularity, causing valuations of teams to rise as well. Now may be the perfect time to sell, especially if an ownership group doesn’t want to keep up with growing health and recovery trends in the league.
The Mohegan tribe is exploring a potential sale of the Connecticut Sun, but franchise legend Tina Charles is focused on what she can control.
