A man faces capital murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing three people, including a 4-year-old girl, during a carjacking at a Target store in Austin, Texas on Monday.

The 32-year-old who police believe killed three people in a north Austin parking lot Monday was not supposed to be in possession of a gun, legal experts told KXAN.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 38th homicide of 2025.
