Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6) quarterback Baker Mayfield watched his Oklahoma Sooners lose to the Missouri Tigers. And on Wednesday, nearly a month removed from Missouri’s 30-23 victory, Mayfield had to a pay a price for the loss — even though he had no hand in it.

Mayfield’s personal experience, like Young’s, also crossed paths with current Panthers head coach Dave Canales. Canales, of course, was the Buccaneers offensive coordinator in 2023—where he helped guide Mayfield to a career rejuvenation.
