Seattle’s interim police chief on Monday fired the officer who fatally struck a 23-year-old graduate student from India with his patrol vehicle in January 2023 while responding to a call. Interim Chief of Police Sue Rahr announced she'd fired SPD Officer Kevin Dave in an internal email Monday. The decision comes as the result of a January 2023 incident in which Dave struck and killed 23-year-old college student Jaahnavi Kandula while she was crossing a crosswalk.
