A severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in Birmingham at 1:56 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6.
In fact, there was enough rain to break daily rainfall records in two Alabama cities. The weather service in Mobile said the city of Mobile shattered its rainfall record for May 22. According to the weather service Mobile got 5.4 inches of rain on Friday, breaking the record of 3.8 inches that was set in 1965.
