Billionaire Elon Musk's illegal overthrowing of the US Treasury by his so-called Department of Government Efficiency has some of president Donald Trump's loyalists uneasy. The massive overreach is sowing discord between Republican aides and Musk's army of college grads — who are currently making irreversible changes to the federal government's payments system without the required clearance — as Wired reports.

One of the largest U.S. labor unions asked a federal judge on Wednesday to block Elon Musk's government cost-cutting effort from accessing the Department of Labor's systems, which the union warned could give the billionaire sensitive information about investigations into his companies.

The Trump-appointed U.S. attorney of Washington said the Justice Department will pursue legal action against "anyone who impedes" on Musk's DOGE work.
