MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Fans wrapped themselves around Hope Coliseum hours before West Virginia women’s basketball was scheduled to tip off against Miami (Ohio) to see the Mountaineers play in their first NCAA Tournament game in Morgantown in 34 years.
The only thing hotter than the crowd inside Hope Coliseum on Saturday was West Virginia’s shooting as the Mountaineers rode one of their most efficient performances of the season to an 82-54 win over Miami (Ohio) in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
West Virginia hopes to make the best of a rare chance to play an NCAA women's tournament game on its home court.
