Despite efforts on Capitol Hill to reopen the federal government, stress on airports nationwide continues to mount. On Tuesday, flight reductions increased to 6%, with projections of reaching 10% on Friday if the shutdown persists.

Other major airports, including Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), have experienced major delays as well.

Alaska Airlines confirmed similar directives, saying it will cancel 36–40 flights per day through Sunday, while continuing to operate over 1,500 daily flights. The airline said 100 percent of affected passengers have been rebooked and pledged to protect service to smaller and remote communities.

The FAA said in a statement that delays at these airports averaged more than two hours at Orlando, 90 minutes at National Airport in Washington and 21 minutes at Dallas.
