The company behind an $8.9 billion carbon-capture pipeline proposed for five Midwestern states said Wednesday it wants to indefinitely delay its plans after South Dakota passed a law limiting its ability to acquire land for the project.

Ames' Summit Carbon Solutions filed a motion in South Dakota to pause its pipeline permit application and extend a permit decision "indefinitely"

South Dakota landowners scored a victory after a bill to block Summit from using eminent domain to acquire land passed the House and Senate.
