Family members and advocates have asked Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to intervene in a death penalty case set to move forward in Alabama.

Zahir Mathis is another big target that is still out there in the 2025 class. Mathis is another player that was originally committed elsewhere as he was an Ohio State pledge, but he decided to reopen his recruitment back in November. Demetrius Frazier was serving a life sentence in Michigan before being transferred to Alabama in 2011. Frazier is scheduled for execution Feb. 6.

Frazier is to be executed at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility, Atmore Alabama, sometime within a 30-hour-period starting at midnight on Thursday, Feb. 6 and ending at 6 a.m. on Feb. 7. Frazier is set to die by inhaling pure nitrogen gas.
