New York Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, a socialist, and City Comptroller Brad Lander endorsed each other on Friday, the day after the final debate for the New York City mayoral Democratic primary, in hopes that they can beat front-runner former Gov.

With little over one week left until the mayoral primary, Zohran Mamdani’s momentum Andrew Cuomo is drawing widespread opposition to stop him from winning the Democratic nomination and likely City Hall.

Going into the second New York City Democratic mayoral debate on June 13, the momentum was clearly with Zohran Mamdani. The socialist state assemblymember had secured a strong second place position even before the first debate on June 4,
