"Sinners" is the No. 1 movie in North America for a second weekend, earning an additional $45 million in receipts this Friday through Sunday, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced.

At the weekend box office, Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners' wiped the floor with its competition again, easily holding onto its crown, while a 'Star Wars' rerelease charted above several domestic premieres.

“Sinners,” which director Ryan Coogler filmed using Imax cameras, has been a force on premium screens. In Imax alone, the movie has added $12.3 million worldwide over the weekend, boosting its overall tally to $20.6 million. Those ticket sales represent 19% of the film’s overall gross.

The film represents a departure for the “Black Panther” director, and a creative risk; it grapples with ideas about music, race, family, religion—and vampires.
