A trio of fires in Los Angeles County have forced 19 school districts to close on Wednesday.

At least three schools in Los Angeles suffered "significant damage" from ongoing wildfires in California as school district announced that they are closing due to the ongoing blaze.

California officials held a news conference on Thursday evening about the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. They announced that all Los Angeles Unified School District schools will be closed on Friday due to air quality and said they are hoping to get a 12-hour curfew in place inside the mandatory evacuation areas.

Parts of Wales are set for another cold snap on Thursday, with two weather warnings in place for snow and ice. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice for parts of north, west and mid Wales from 00:15 GMT on Thursday until 11:00.

Snow and sleet began to hit southern England on Wednesday afternoon as an amber weather warning came into force, with the Met Office saying further warnings are likely to be issued as the week goes on.
