The first tropical storm of 2025 formed in the Pacific Ocean, off the southwestern coast of Mexico, on Thursday — and forecasters are warning of an increased risk of life-threatening rip currents.  According to a National Hurricane Center advisory issued early Friday,

Tropical Storm Alvin was located about 670 miles (1,080 kilometers) south-southeast of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula of Mexico, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center said.
