Indonesia's investment minister said that Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast planned to install as many as 100,000 charging stations across the country, after President Prabowo Subianto met company representatives on Tuesday.

Indonesia, home to the world's largest nickel reserves, has been seeking to position itself as a regional EV hub and a key player in the global EV supply chain.

To make EVs more accessible, VinFast is introducing attractive incentives, such as free charging at V-Green-operated stations until 2028, cashback offers, gifts for early adopters, and a buyback guarantee of up to 90 per cent of the vehicle's value.

Vietnam's first electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast dispatched its largest shipment to Indonesia, with nearly 2,500 units departing from the northern city of Hai Phong on March 8.
