The San Diego Zoo is celebrating the birth of its newest addition to the sloth family. It is the third baby for Xena, a 12-year-old sloth who has two other children, Tornero and Colheita. Some significant time has passed since the zoo last welcomed a sloth pup.

While a cold, winter storm drenched most of San Diego County on Thursday, the mountain ranges were getting a fresh dusting of white snow. The National Weather Service was receiving reports of an inch-and-a-half of snow in Julian and less than an inch of wet snow on Volcan Mountain.

San Diego's Palomar Mountain saw more snow than any other mountain in Southern California with 9 inches total.
