The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency fired its chief financial officer and three other employees, accusing them of making "egregious payments" for New York City hotels used for migrants, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement on Tuesday.

Officials at the Department of Homeland Security failed to offer details on how the four employees had violated any policies.

The federal agency didn’t provide details of any alleged wrongdoing, but said the workers were “circumventing leadership” to make the payments.
