The Wildcats swept through the Eugene Regional to earn their trip to Chapel Hill. Arizona dominated Cal Poly, winning 14-0 in the regional-clinching game, with center field Aaron Walton hitting three home runs and driving in six runs.

The runs kept off the scoreboard were arguably more impressive than the runs UNC baseball finished with in its 18-2 annihilation of Arizona at Boshamer Stadium.  The Tar Heels (46-13) have never scored more in an NCAA Super Regional game than the number they put up against the Wildcats (42-19) in Game 1 in Chapel Hill.

The No. 5 seed Tar Heels put on a dazzling offensive display in Chapel Hill on Friday, demolishing Arizona, 18-2, in the opening bout of their Super Regional best-of-three series. Catcher Luke Stevenson, first baseman Hunter Stokely, and pitcher Jake Knapp led the way for the Tar Heels.
