OU has lost one of its outfielders to the transfer portal. Sophomore Maya Bland announced on Instagram Wednesday afternoon that she’s taking a new path and will cherish her time as a Sooner. This announcement comes just days after Oklahoma ended its season prematurely due to an upsetting loss to Texas Tech in the semifinals of the Women’s College World Series.
NORMAN — OU softball outfielder Maya Bland announced Wednesday via social media she has entered the transfer portal. Bland started seven games in two seasons with the Sooners and hit .277. Bland hit a game-winning three-run home run at Devon Park in an 11-3 win against Oklahoma State on April 9 and served as one of Patty Gasso's top pinch-runners.
Despite all the turnover and parity the sport witnessed, Patty Gasso led OU softball to an SEC title and the WCWS semifinals.
