An “insanely calm” Oscar Piastri has been hailed as having one of the coolest heads Formula 1 ever seen as one former driver declared the “floodgates have opened” for the Australian star in his title quest.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has detailed that Oscar Piastri had a role in the events that led to Max Verstappen ‘s race collapsing in Formula 1 ‘s Spanish Grand Prix. Verstappen was poised to come home third behind the McLarens in Barcelona until a Safety Car with 11 laps to go triggered chaos that saw him end up down in 10th.

If the first two hours of practice at the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix are any indication, McLaren remains the team to beat. Even with the new Technical Directive impacting front wings that was put into place ahead of this weekend.
