The former Alabama All-American will be under center for the NFL team with Trevor Lawrence going to injured reserve.

The Jaguars fell to 2-10 on the season after Week 13's loss to the Texans but the team added a pass catcher to help QB Mac Jones.

With the Jaguars eliminated from playoff contention, they placed Lawrence on injured reserve. He was carted off the field Sunday after taking a violent shot to the facemask from Houston’s Azeez Al-Sha

Lawrence’s season is done after he sustained a concussion in the first half of Jacksonville’s loss to the Houston Texans in Week 13. Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair delivered a vicious hit to Lawrence’s head as the quarterback went into a slide. A scrum broke out before Lawrence was carted off the field.

Trevor Lawrence will be out for at least four games with a concussion after taking an illegal hit last week, which means Mac Jones will start for the Jaguars.

Trevor Lawrence left the Jaguars' Week 13 contest against the Texans, putting Mac Jones into the starting role.

In 2021, there were reports that the 49ers considered drafting Mac Jones after trading up for the third pick. Clearly, they liked him when he was coming out of Alabama. Now, the former first-round pick is the backup for the Jaguars.
