Beijing has pushed back against a US decision aimed at curbing Chinese-made artificial intelligence chips, a first sign of discord between the world’s two largest economies since they agreed to a trade truce last weekend.

THE US government has issued a warning to companies about the risks of using Chinese-made artificial intelligence (AI) chips, specifically those pro-duced by Huawei, saying such use may violate export control laws and result in severe penalties.

SINGAPORE: The United States' Department of Commerce on Tuesday (May 13) issued new guidelines which state that the use of Huawei's Ascend AI chips "anywhere in the world" violates the country's export controls.
