The Red Sox and newly acquired ace Garrett Crochet have discussed a multi-year contract extension, reports MassLive.com. The two sides are not believed to be close to a deal. Crochet has two years of control remaining.

According to MassLive's Chris Cotillo, the Red Sox are attempting to do exactly that, as he reported that two sides are engaged in discussions on an extension. Cotillo adds that while Boston and Crochet are focusing on avoiding arbitration this year, they have at least begun talking about longer-term options.
