They won the first three games of this four-game series to re-establish contact with the AL-Central leading Tigers. Asking them to beat Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal on Sunday to complete their first four-game sweep in Motown since 2017 would have been a bit too much.

Tarik Skubal gave up two hits and matched a career high with 13 strikeouts in his first complete game, Zach McKinstry had a two-run homer in a five-run fourth inning and Detroit beat Cleveland 5-0 Sunday to avoid a four-game sweep.
