According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Atlanta Falcons have elevated C.J. Henderson to their active roster. The move came shortly after Atlanta waived veteran kick returner Jamal Agnew, opening up a spot for the former Gator.

The Atlanta Falcons are waiving kick returner Jamal Agnew and signing cornerback C.J. Henderson to their 53-man roster, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported. Agnew lost his starting job after fumbling during the team's Week 13 loss to the New York Jets.

Agnew served as Atlanta’s primary kick and punt returner this year, leading the team in both attempts and total yardage. The eighth-year return specialist brought back 30 kickoffs for 741 yards, averaging 24.7 yards per return, which ranked just 23rd among players with at least 20 return attempts.

The 2017 fifth-round draft pick earned All-Pro honors in his rookie campaign with the Detroit Lions and secured a Pro Bowl selection several seasons later with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he was far from his best with the Falcons.
