NEW YORK, June 3, 2025 – The New York Knicks announced today that the team has relieved head coach Tom Thibodeau of his duties.

Since being fired late last season, we haven’t heard much from former Grizzly coach Taylor Jenkins. But that could be about to change. It seems Jenkins’ name has come up for the vacant head coaching job with the New York Knicks.

The New York Knicks have fired head coach Tom Thibodeau, the team announced Tuesday. The decision comes three days after the Knicks were eliminated in the Eastern Conference finals by the Indiana Pacers in six games.

What the Knicks are trying to pull off with their coaching search is not unprecedented, nor is it even particularly uncommon.

Since the New York Knicks fired their head coach Tom Thibodeau last week, fans have eagerly expressed their opinions about the firing. Some felt that the move wasn’t necessary after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years,

The New York Knicks are coming off of one of their most successful seasons after qualifying for the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000. However, just like in 2000, they fell to the Indiana Pacers and just short of a berth in the NBA Finals.

Tom Thibodeau was, by far, the best New York Knicks coach of the 21st century. He led the team to the playoffs in four of his five years on the job. The Knicks made the playoffs just four times in the 19 seasons before he was hired.
